Highly collectable this little art deco rectangular shaped powder compact is made by Gwenda with the famous Tap-Flap system that was unique to Gwenda allowing the loose powder to be gradually dispensed without making a mess. The top of the lid is decorated with a pretty enamelled floral design of tiny flowers and leaves in colours of blue, red and green and the back is enamelled plain black. Inside is silver-tone metal, probably chrome with a perfect metallic mirror and at the centre of the tap-flap mechanism is engraved - Tap-Flap, Gwenda, Made in England and next to the clasp on the right is engraved - Lift Here with an arrow, this is where the mechanism is removed to refill with powder. An enchanting vintage powder compact that would grace any collection.
It measures 7cm (2.75") by 5cm (2").
In very good vintage condition.
